Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art

Greater inspiration. Greater expressiveness. Greater appreciation.

The Manetti Shrem Museum of Art has become a premier art destination in California since its opening in 2016. Our world-class program grows every day, thanks to patrons of the arts who have contributed greatly to the museum’s collection and mission. Whether through gifts of fine art or endowments to support innovative programming, donors have helped us expand the UC Davis arts legacy by deepening the holdings of renowned faculty and alumni artists and amplifying the voices of emerging artists.

In 2024, the Wayne Thiebaud Foundation graciously gifted 12 works from the late artist’s personal collection of world-renowned 20th century luminaries including Willem De Kooning, Richard Diebenkorn, Giorgio Morandi, Henry Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. The works, which include five paintings, five prints, and two sculptures, are collectively valued in the millions of dollars. Thiebaud — the legendary artist and longtime UC Davis professor known for his colorful paintings of landscapes, people, and delectable desserts — is the UC Davis Fine Arts Collection’s largest donor to date.

As proud champions of arts education, we will continue to push the boundaries of creativity with engaging experiences, iconic masterpieces, and dynamic exhibitions that offer fresh perspectives and inspire new ways of thinking. And, most importantly, together we will ensure the museum remains a space that is accessible and Free for All.
